NO further coronavirus-related deaths have been reported by the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust for the first time since November 21.

According to NHS England data released this afternoon (December 2) there were no additional deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The trust, which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites, has registered a total of 283 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Elsewhere in the county, East Cheshire (three), Mid Cheshire (one) and Warrington & Halton (one) hospital trusts also recorded additional deaths in the latest one-day reporting period.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 980.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 267, East Cheshire NHS Trust 174, and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 256.

The daily NHS England data provides information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for Covid-19 or where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across England, a further 372 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 41,310.

Patients were aged between 19 and 103 years-old. All except 17 – aged 19 to 93 – had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 7 April to 1 December 2020.

Their families have been informed.
