LEIGHTON Hospital’s trust has reported the death of one of its coronavirus patients – the 41st it has recorded in November.

Following a difficult month which has seen the country go through a second national lockdown to help protect the NHS this winter, Mid Cheshire Hospitals has now reported 261 Covid deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, compared to 220 at October 31.

The trust reported its latest death from coronavirus in today’s figures, with the patient’s death recorded on Sunday, November 29.

Meanwhile, the Countess of Chester Trust has also reported one death from coronavirus today, with the death recorded on Saturday, November 28.

It takes the total number killed by Covid-19 in the Countess’ care to 279, compared to 237 at October 31.

In the latest figures from NHS England, the Countess was caring for 139 Covid patients last Tuesday morning, up from 99 one week earlier.

Meanwhile, Mid Cheshire Hospitals was caring for 64 patients, up from 61 one week earlier.

NHS hospitals in England reported 183 deaths from coronavirus in total today, including 19 in the north west.

Of the total number of patients, 177 were over the age of 60, and no patients were below the age of 40.
