SIX out of the ten Cheshire West and Chester Council wards with the highest coronavirus infection rate are in Ellesmere Port.

Two Chester wards and two areas of Winsford complete the borough's current top ten, according to the latest data available from the council's Covid-19 dashboard online.

Whitby Park, with 617.78 (31 cases) per 100,000 people, remains the council ward with the highest infection rate

The infection rate is calculated by getting the number of positive Covid cases recorded in each ward between November 1-7 and adjusting for each ward's population size.

It means during that seven-day period, 0.6% of people in Whitby Park tested positive for Covid.

Winsford Dene has the second highest infection rate followed by Saughall & Mollington in third with 409.12 (21 cases) per 100,000 people.
