A FURTHER 162 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Cheshire West and Chester during the latest 24-hour period.

It means the total number of positive cases recorded in the borough since the start of the pandemic now stands 7,085.

The weekly infection for Cheshire West and Chester, in the seven days up to November 5, is 246.9 (847 cases) per 100,000 people.

Earlier today, NHS England figures revealed that the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust had recorded another death of a patient with coronavirus.

The latest 24-hour reporting data shows that the latest death sadly occurred on November 8.

It means the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – has now registered a total of 246 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 851.
