WELSH legends Ian Rush and Mickey Thomas has told Wrexham’s would-be owners, movie-stars, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, that there’s only one person who should top the bill when they come to town....Joey Jones.

The two Hollywood A-listers will outline their vision for the future at an online meeting on Sunday when Reds fans will then vote on whether to accept their offer to buy the club.

Rush, who finished his career at Wrexham in the last Nineties, and fans favourite Thomas, both say it’s imperative that the superstar duo turn to another Racecourse hero for advice.

“It’s important the new owners get the right people around them - and they should start by getting Joey Jones back at the club,” said Rush. “It wasn’t nice how he went but he’s the first person the new regime should be calling on for advice.

“His big love is Wrexham. It means so much to him.”

Thomas, who has been ‘best-mates’ with Jones since they signed for Wrexham in the early 1970s, said: “Install him back immediately. He loves the club and the fans love him.

"He knows Wrexham and he's a proper footballing man."
