JAY HARRIS admits Wrexham’s last three games have been “totally unacceptable” and the poor run must stop with a much needed victory against Barnet at The Racecourse tonight (Tuesday).

Dean Keates’ side go into the clash with the Bees on the back of a hat-trick of defeats, the latest a heavy 4-0 loss at Solihull Moors in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie.

Previously beaten in the National League by Maidenhead and Wealdstone, both of whom were bottom of the table at the time, Wrexham have conceded nine goals in three outings and acting captain Harris says there has to be a reaction against Barnet.

“One defeat is bad enough but three defeats in a row is very disappointing,” said Harris.

“It is how we react now. It is not what you do when you are winning games, it is what you do when you have conceded nine goals and lost three games.

“We said after one game we needed a reaction and before you know it, it is three games.

“We have got to look at ourselves now as a collective and go again.

“Luckily for us we have got games coming up where we can rectify it, but the last three games, they are totally unacceptable from a player’s point of view.”

And Harris says only a win will do against Barnet to get Wrexham’s floundering season back on track.

“This game is massive for us,” said Harris. “It’s a home game on the back of three losses so we need a win.

“I don’t think we can come out with a draw; we have got to win games because we have got to start putting it right sooner rather than later.

“Luckily enough for us we have got 39 games left and it has got to start on Tuesday. If it doesn’t, there will be questions asked.”

Harris understands fans’ frustrations and the midfielder, who returned to the club for a second spell during the January transfer window, is not happy with the current form.

“It is disappointing for the fans but it hurts the players,” said Harris.

“The fans have been watching and the fans have seen results.

“They are the wrong results at the end of the day.”

Wrexham only trailed 1-0 at the break against Solihull but the Reds capitulated after the interval and suffered a heavy defeat, and it could have been by a bigger margin.

It was the second game in a row where Wrexham have conceded four goals and Harris knows they have to cut out the mistakes that are proving so costly.

“First half I thought we were on top but we conceded the goal,” added Harris.

“They came out second half and scored the penalty, next thing you know it is three, then four.

“I don’t think we were ever in the game second half; we had a lot of the ball without penetrating.

“That is football. We didn’t create much and they capitalised on our mistakes.

“The four goals have come from our mistakes yet again as they have done previously.”

Tonight’s crucial home clash with Peter Beadle’s Barnet will now kick-off at the earlier time of 7pm instead of 7.45pm.
