A WIDE-RANGING survey will be launched in a bid to help shape an ambitious plan for the future of Oswestry.

The Future Oswestry Group, formed to take the town forward, would like to hear what key stakeholders, residents, visitors and businesses think about the town and how it can develop.

Now a short survey has been launched to take the views on board, which will form part of a future vision for the town.

Questions range from finding out people’s views on what is currently positive in the town and what can be enhanced, how transport links could be improved to better connect the town, to what ambitions people have for the future, as the group aim to help Oswestry fulfil and exceed its vibrancy and potential.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for assets, economic growth and regeneration, and deputy leader, said: “This is an important time for Oswestry as we cast our eyes to the future and what we can do to capitalise on all that is good about the town.

“We have recently appointed Allies & Morrison as urban practitioners to help guide the Future Oswestry Group as we look to build an ambitious, collective vision for the future.

“But a major part of that is hearing from our key partners, our residents and visitors about what they want to see included in this plan.

“Oswestry is already a wonderful town that we can be very proud of, from locations of historic importance, to beautiful green spaces, superb independent traders and a nationally-celebrated market.

“But we know that there is more that we can do moving forwards to develop it further and this is just the start of our efforts to take people’s views on board.”

The group consists of Shropshire Council, Oswestry Town Council and Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID).

You can take part in the survey, which runs until Friday, November 13, 2020 at https://giveyourviews.typeform.com/to/oBuA6yPG or emailing futureoswestry@shropshire.gov.uk
