A TOTAL of 80 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the latest one-day Government data released at 4.10pm today (Saturday, October 17).

Sadly, NHS England has also confirmed there has been a further coronavirus death recorded in a Cheshire hospital.

The death was recorded in the Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on October 15.

That means the total number of coronavirus cases recorded in the county now stands at 4,192, while the total number of patients with coronavirus who have died in Cheshire hospitals is 757.

The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded 232 deaths (the last on October 14), Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 217 deaths (the last on October 10); East Cheshire NHS Trust 150 (the last on October 13), and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 158 (the last on October 15).

Across England, a further 86 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 30,910.

Patients were aged between 44 and 99 years old. All except two – aged 62 and 79 – had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from September 16-October 16. Their families have been informed.
