A CHESTER primary school has held the grand opening of its outdoor learning area for its reception class.
Lache Primary School has invested in improving the facility, adding a digging area complete with sit-on diggers, a woodland area, a reading den, a brand new surface for active play and new ‘super speedy’ bikes.
Youngsters have also been finding out about animal welfare so they could have class pets to care for.
After lots of research, the classroom now has two class guinea pigs, named Mac and Pumpkin.
The children were so excited about using the new area that they wanted to make it into a special event to share with all our Reception families.
At the end of the school day, there was a socially-distanced grand opening.
The children planted bulbs and winter flowering plants ready for the big day.
They celebrated by cutting a special VIP red ribbon and each child took home a spring bulb and a special gingerbread treat. ‘The children are accessing lots of outdoor learning opportunities with our new facilities. This is perfect to encourage lots of learning in the fresh air’.
