KWAME THOMAS scored the only goal as Wrexham beat Yeovil Town 1-0 at Huish Park to register their first away win of the season.

Thomas was on target in a first half that the Reds totally dominated and could have led by a bigger margin at the break.

But one goal proved to be enough as Wrexham bounced back from the 1-0 midweek defeat at Solihull Moors.

Reds boss Dean Keates made one change from the side that started Tuesday's loss with winger Anthony Jeffrey returning in place of Jake Bickerstaff who was not involved.

But Dan Jarvis was named among the substitutes and in the squad for the first time this season.

Just five minutes had gone when Wrexham created the first chance of the game, Reece Hall-Johnson's powerful drive turned behind by keeper Adam Smith.

Luke Wilkinson's long range effort was comfortably saved by Rob Lainton at the other end but Wrexham were making the early running and the Reds took a 10th minute lead.

Hall-Johnson delivered a low cross from the right and Thomas converted from close range.

Thomas headed wide and Jeffrey also failed to hit the target with another sight of goal as Wrexham continued to have the upper hand.

Keates was forced into a change in the 40th minute as Jeffrey, who had been lively on the right, pulled up injured and had to be replaced by Elliott Durrell.

It was an impressive first half display and Wrexham picked up where they left off at the start of the second period, Durrell's low drive brilliantly saved by Smith.

The Glovers keeper was also on hand to keep out Luke Young's volley while Matt Worthington only just cleared the bar with a rare attempt on goal for the hosts.

Jamie Reckord was high and wide with another Wrexham effort but the Reds were given a warning following a good spell by Yeovil, Charlie Lee only just heading over the bar.

Jordan Ponticelli took over from Jordan Davies after 78 minutes and almost set up a second goal.

The striker charged forward on the counter attack an squared to Paul Rutherford who rounded Smith but was pushed wide and the goalkeeper recovered to make a vital save.

Wrexham survived five minutes injury time to register a deserved win.
