THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has registered its first death of a patient testing positive for coronavirus since July 18.

NHS England data released this afternoon shows that the death sadly occurred on October 1.

East Cheshire NHS Trust also recorded a death in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The total number of people who have died in Cheshire hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus now stands at 735.

The Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded 228 deaths, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 214 deaths, the last on August 31; East Cheshire NHS Trust 147 (last recorded September 30), and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 145 (last recorded October 1).

Across England, a further 42 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 30,138.
