A CONVENIENCE store has temporarily closed after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

Colleagues of the affected employee at McColl's in Station Road, Little Sutton, are now self-isolating as a precaution.

The shop is currently being deep cleaned and could reopen next week with staff being temporarily relocated from other McColl's stores.

The retailer says the health, safety and wellbeing of its customers and staff remains its "utmost priority".

A McColl's spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a colleague at our Station Road store in Little Sutton, Ellesmere Port, has tested positive for Covid-19 and, as a precaution, we have temporarily closed the store whilst it is deep cleaned.

"All other store colleagues who worked with the individual are self-isolating as a precaution. We hope to safely reopen the store next week with new store colleagues temporarily relocated from other McColl’s stores so we can continue to serve our customers in the interim.

"The health, safety and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues remains our utmost priority, and we continue to follow the latest Government guidelines and take the relevant precautions to ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues."
