FIREFIGHTERS were called out to extinguish a fire next to the A55 Expressway near Chester on Sunday (September 13).

The incident was reported at about 2.30pm.

Firefighters from Ellesmere Port were dispatched to he scene and on arrival they found a small unattended bonfire in a field at the side of the carriageway.

The crew used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and were detained at the scene for around 45 minutes.
