A SECOND pupil at Upton-by-Chester High School has tested positive for coronavirus.
The school on St James Avenue has today (September 10) confirmed in an emailed letter to parents and carers, which has been seen by The Standard, that the affected student is currently self-isolating for the next 10 days.
The email states that the child is a sibling of the Year 12 pupil who had previously tested positive for the virus, with the school saying it is "highly probable" that it was transmitted through contact at home.
Staff and pupils who were a "direct or close contact" of the latest case have been told to self-isolate at home for 14 days.
Upton-by-Chester High School confirmed in the email that the second pupil began isolating on Monday and therefore had not attended school since Friday.
It added that the student had "very limited" contact with other pupils.
The Standard has approached the school for comment.
