A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed weapon in Ellesmere Port town centre.
Officers were called to Whitby Road at 12.20pm today (September 10) after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man.
Eye-witnesses said several police cars attended the scene with the area outside Trinity Methodist Church and HSBC bank taped off for a period of time.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "At 12.20pm on Thursday 10 September police were called to Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port following concern for the welfare of a man.
"No-one else was involved in the incident.
"Officers attended the scene and arrested a 23-year-old man from Ellesmere Port on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
"He is currently in custody."
