A 14-YEAR-OLD boy had to undergo surgery after he was left seriously injured following an attack by a large gang of youths at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.

The incident happened at 6.15pm on Friday, September 4, and reportedly left the victim with a broken nose and leg.

His mum has posted on Facebook appealing for information about the assault.

She says her son was walking with his friend at the Ellesmere Port shopping centre "minding his own business" when "10-15 spineless cowardly scumbags" attacked him from behind.

The post added that he was awaiting surgery over the weekend.

Cheshire Constabulary said in a statement: "Shortly after 8.30pm on Friday 4 September police received a report of a boy having been assaulted by a group of young people at a retail outlet in Ellesmere Port.

"The incident – which occurred earlier that night, at around 6.15pm – left the 14-year-old local boy with serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital to be treated.
