THE first coronavirus death at a Cheshire hospital in almost two weeks has been recorded, according to the latest NHS England figures.

A patient with coronavirus died in the Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust area on August 31, according to NHS England data released on Saturday, September 5.

As of Saturday, September 5, it is now seven weeks since the last coronavirus death was recorded at the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust, where a total of 227 coronavirus patients died.

The Cheshire coronavirus hospital death toll stands at 726.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 214 deaths, East Cheshire NHS Trust 146 (last recorded coronavirus death July 22), and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 139 (last recorded August 24).

Across England, a further further people who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,604.

Patients were aged between 56 and 94 years old. All had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from August 31 to September 4, with the majority on or after September 3.

Three new positive cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the last 24 hours for the Cheshire West and Chester area, in Government figures up to 4pm on Saturday, September 5.

The total number of confirmed cases for the borough stands at 2,176.
