THE scene is almost set for filming work to begin in Ellesmere Port tomorrow (August 21) for a new Netflix series.

TV crews are using the town's National Waterways Museum as a location for scenes in the upcoming eight-part, Sherlock Holmes spin-off 'The Irregulars'.

Filming had been due to take place at the museum back in March but the plans had to be put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Now, more than five months later, last minute preparations are being made ahead of filming finally starting from 5pm tomorrow until 3am the following day.

A cherry-picker arrived at the museum today and an area of the site has been transformed into Victorian times.

In a letter sent to nearby residents and businesses, production company Drama Republic states: "We have several scenes to film on Friday 21st which will all take place in the outdoor grounds of the Waterways Museum.

"As with our previous visit, our art department will begin 'dressing' the locations in order to make them match our period look prior to our arrival.

"For the evening scenes we will have cherry-picker mounted lights, which will be skirted to prevent light spillage.

"On our filming day we will also have a traffic management team on site who will operate a stop and go system on South Pier Road.

The Irregulars is a drama inspired by the Baker Street Irregulars, a gang of fictional street boys who served as intelligence agents for Sherlock Holmes in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books.

All filming has taken place in locations across the North West with Chester previously being used for scenes.

Drama Republic says the eight-part drama will be availbale for streaming on Netflix in the "near future".
