TWO people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a chip pan fire in Ellesmere Port.

Three fire crews responded and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the kitchen of a property in Conway Court, just before 4.40pm yesterday (Friday, August 14) with a hose reel jet and a fire blanket.

On arrival crews discovered that smoke alarms were sounding and no-one was unaccounted for.

The gas and electricity supplies to the kitchen were isolated and firefighters used a large fan to clear smoke from the premises.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two people who live at the property were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

"After being assessed by paramedics, they were taken to hospital.

"Firefighters were in attendance for about an hour."
