FIREFIGHTERS were called out to campfire at Delamere Forest this morning (August 10).

Crews attended the incident off Delamere Road in Norley at 9.18am.

Water from a nearby stream was used to help douse the flames.

Back in June, fire chiefs urged the public not to light outdoor fires following a blaze at Delamere Forest which could have caused a 'large scale incident'.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At around 9.20am firefighters were called to reports of a fire in the Delamere Road area of Norley, Frodsham.

"On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small campfire in Delamere Forest. The fire measuring approximately four square metres consisted of loose branches and pine needles.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire with water. Some of the water was sourced from a nearby stream.

"Firefighters were in attendance for more than an hour. The Forestry Commission also attended."
