AN investigation into the cause of a blaze which saw three people rescued from a burning building in Ellesmere Port town centre remains "ongoing".
Firefighters were called to the residential property on Whitby Road, near to the Westminster Bridge, shortly after 1pm on Friday, July 17.
The occupants were trapped inside the burning flat and crews used a ladder to rescue them.
A fourth person was also treated at the scene by paramedics.
The road was closed until 10pm with fire crews not leaving the scene until 9.30am the following day.
At the height of the incident five engines were in attendance, including an aerial ladder platform.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed today (July 22) that the cause of the blaze had not yet been established and the investigation was "ongoing".
