A POPULAR bar and restaurant in Chester is set to reopen its doors next month.

The Botanist Chester, St Werburgh Street, will welcome back customers on Saturday, August 1, and will be serving Sunday roasts the following day.

A spokesman for the venue said: "As we start to re-open our doors again, our commitment is to do this responsibly and safely.

"We want you to feel welcome, comfortable, safe and happy to be with us because The Botanist has not been the same without you and we can't wait to welcome you back."

Bookings can be made online for up to six people and the details of the lead booker will be taken. Bookings also need to be made in advance for drinks only, but there will no standing directly at the bar.

The spokesman added: "We have also completed internal risk assessments on all of our venues to ensure they are Covid secure." Additional safety measures introduced, include:

* Mobile contactless ordering.

* Increased cleaning schedule throughout venue.

* Increased frequency of handwashing by staff at timed intervals.

* Accessible hand sanitiser dispenser stations.

* Reduced furniture layouts to distance tables.

* Clear social distancing signage.

*Cashless payments only.
