FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a section of motorway in Cheshire to free a man trapped in a vehicle following a collision involving a lorry and a tipper truck.
Five fire crews attended - two from Crewe, one from Alsager, one from Congleton and one from Winsford - as did the major rescue unit from Winsford, at about 9.50am today (Monday, July 6), between junctions 17 and 16 on the M6 sothbound.
On arrival crews discovered that the collision involved a heavy goods vehicle and a tipper truck and that a man was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Lanes one and two of the motorway were closed as emergency services worked at the scene.
Firefighters got the casualty out of the vehicle before handing him over to the care of paramedics.
They also used specialist equipment to stop non-hazardous mixed building materials from leaking out of the tipper truck.
Firefighters were in attendance for about 40 minutes.
They handed the incident over to the police.
Highways England were also in attendance.
