THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust reported one additional death of a patient testing positive for coronavirus over the weekend.

NHS England data showed that the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites - recorded one further death in the figures released on Saturday (June 27).

The data also showed that the death occurred on June 6.

As of 5pm on June 27, the trust has now recorded a total of 209 deaths.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 683, with the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (210) recording the most, followed by the Countess trust, East Cheshire NHS Trust (135) and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (131).

As of 4pm yesterday, Cheshire West and Chester had 1,243 confirmed cases of coronavirus – a rise of seven since June 25.
