A CARE home in Chester has thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from the members of the community to its dedicated team members.

Unable to say thank you in person, residents and team members at Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, have sent out a virtual thank you, to express their gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Chester over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Deewater Grange was inundated with support, receiving plants and pots for its garden from community members and Walkers Plant Centre, cakes and treats from local shops, including Miss Boucakes, the Rake Huntington and Domino’s, as well as new prints to decorate the home from JB Chester.

Local children and pupils at Abbey Gate College have been keeping spirits high by writing letters to everyone at the home, and residents also had a special song dedicated to them by the Covergirlz Band online.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative activities, team members at Deewater Grange, as well as Lois, the home’s resident hairdresser, who sent over a delicious cake to her colleagues while away, have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Sally Cooper, home manager at Deewater Grange, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of months, whether that be through volunteering, sending tokens of appreciation, or putting pen to paper for residents.

“Every single thought, message and gesture has helped to raise the spirits of our fantastic team and has brightened the days of residents missing their families. It really has kept everyone going.

“On behalf of everyone at Deewater Grange, thank you so much.”
