THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has reported three additional coronavirus deaths for the second day running, according to the latest NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (June 25) shows that, as of 5pm yesterday, the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – has now registered a total of 203 deaths of patients who tested positive for the virus.

The data shows that sadly all three deaths occurred yesterday.

The trust has so far reported an additional eight deaths this week, the highest amount over a seven day period since the beginning of the month (June 2-7).

A total of eight deaths were recorded by three hospital trusts in Cheshire in the latest 24-hour reporting period, with Warrington and Halton the only one in the county not to register any.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 677, with the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (208) recording the most, followed by the Countess trust (203), East Cheshire NHS Trust (135) and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (131).

Across England, a further 55 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 28,490.

Patients were aged between 49 and 98 years-old. One patient, aged 70, had no known underlying health conditions.

Today, six deaths are reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
