THE total number of coronavirus deaths recorded by the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has now reached 200, according to the latest NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (June 24) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – had registered an additional three deaths of patients testing positive for the virus in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

The data shows that one patient died on June 20, while the two other deaths occurred yesterday (June 23).

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 669, with the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (206) recording the most, followed by the Countess trust (200), East Cheshire NHS Trust (132) and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (131).

Across England, a further 51 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 28,435.

Patients were aged between 48 and 96 years-old. All patients had known underlying health conditions.

Today, six deaths are reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
