A GROUP of friends from a Chester school are ready to step up to help save Chester Zoo.
The group of 10 friends at the Pinecones reception class at Upton Heath Church of England Primary School were so upset at hearing the news was struggling to survive as a result of the Government enforced lockdown that they decided to do something about it.
They are now looking to raise as much money as possible for the zoo by taking on the challenge of walking 70 miles between them.
Winifred Roberts, Jett Radcliffe, Alex Horsham, Isobel Davies, Alexandra Lewis, Freya McGarrity, Austin Henderson, Freddie Butcher, Euan Turner and Theo Llewelyn-Jones will walk each day to cover the distance.
The children can see the zoo from their classroom when they have been in school, which makes it a place really close to their hearts.
Collectively, the children have already surpassed their £500 target.
