A SHOTTON family has started a reptilian rock display in order to boost community spirit.

The Leader has reported on a number of rock snakes appearing in Flintshire over recent weeks.

Residents bring along their own decorated rocks and add them to the ever-growing snakes, bringing enjoyment residents and passers by.

Becki Brierly and her family have now started one of their own on a footpath near Ysgol Ty Ffynnon in Shotton.

The snake, named Sid, was started over the weekend by Mrs Brierly, her husband Aaron and her two daughters Lily-Mai and Elsea.

Mrs Brierly, a medical secretary, explained: "People have been doing this all over the place like in Buckley, Mold and Broughton.

"I thought as we didn't have one in Shotton we could make one. "So my husband did the head and my girls made three sections for his body. "There are about 15 rocks now and I started a Facebook group called "Shotton Covid Snake".

"We have about 100 members on it, so by next week I think we're going to have quite a few more rocks."

Mrs Brierly, 30, said she would encourage other walkers to add their own rocks to Sid, adding: "Someone came down while we were putting our down and added about six. It would definitely be nice to see more.

"We always go for a walk there after tea and we go that way so we can see him.

"The girls love it and it's good to see some community spirit."
