A CORONAVIRUS testing unit has returned to Ellesmere Port today (May 22).

This is the third time the mobile testing facility has been in operation on the town's Wellington Road car park.

It will be at the location until Sunday with tests being carried out by appointment only between the hours of 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Ellesmere Port and Neston MP Justin Madders confirmed: "The mobile testing centre has returned in Wellington Road, Ellesmere Port.

"Essential workers, as well as other eligible groups and members of their households, can now apply online to get tested at a mobile testing unit in Ellesmere Port on Friday 22 May – Sunday 24 May."

The mobile testing units – operated by the Armed Forces – are currently moving to sites around the UK to increase access to coronavirus testing.

They can be set up in under 20 minutes, allowing the testing of hundreds of people each day and are now travelling to those most in need and hard to reach.

Specially trained Armed Forces personnel will collect swabs at the mobile sites, before they are sent to mega-labs for processing. Those tested will receive results within 48 hours.
