THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has now recorded more than 150 coronavirus deaths, according to the latest NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (May 19) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – had registered an additional three deaths in 24 hours.

Sadly, all three patients who tested positive for the virus died yesterday. The trust has now recorded a total of 152 deaths.

The Cheshire Hospital death toll now stands at 532 – a daily increase of eight deaths.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 163, followed by the Countess (152), Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (114) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (103).

There are now 3,185 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county, with Cheshire West and Chester reporting 992, Cheshire East (1,102), Halton (369) and Warrington (722).

Across England, a further 174 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 24,913.

Patients were aged between seven and 102 years-old. A total of six of the 174 patients were aged between 45 and 90, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 18 deaths are reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
