THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust recorded one coronavirus death yesterday, according to the latest NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (May 15) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths reported by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – rose to 147.

This week the trust has registered a total of four deaths of patients who tested positive for the virus.

On both Tuesday and Thursday there were no additional deaths reported in a 24-hour period.

The Cheshire Hospital death toll now stands at 510 – a daily increase of six deaths.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 156, followed by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (109) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (98).

There are now 3,069 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county, with Cheshire West and Chester reporting 957, Cheshire East (1,066), Halton (353) and Warrington (693).

Across England, a further 186 people – down from 207 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 24,345.

Patients were aged between 15 and 99 years-old. A total of 10 of the 186 patients were aged between 30 and 94 years-old, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 26 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
