THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust did not record any coronavirus deaths during the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (May 12) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the number of deaths reported by the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – remained at 145.

It was the only trust in the county not to register a death in a 24-hour period.

The Cheshire Hospital death toll now stands at 487 – a daily increase of five deaths of patients who tested positive for the virus.

The Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the most deaths with 151, followed by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (104) and East Cheshire NHS Trust (87).

There are now 2,988 confirmed cases of coronavirus across Cheshire, with Cheshire West and Chester recording 927, Cheshire East (1,031), Warrington (683), and Halton (347).

Across England, a further 350 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 23,708.

Patients were aged between 25 and 101 years-old. A total of 22 of the 350 patients were aged between 30 and 100 years-old, and had no known underlying health condition.
