A FLINTSHIRE resident rushed to the aid of a man who had allegedly suffered stab wounds. 

The incident took place on Park Avenue in Saltney at about 11.50am, North Wales Police said. 

The force has confirmed one man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and that a man has has been admitted to the Countess of Chester Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Colin White, a Park Avenue resident and trained in delivering first aid, treated the victim at the scene before the emergency services arrived.

He said: "I heard shouting, and I saw two men running to a car, one had a what looked like a large knife or similar. 

"I saw blood on the weapon so I grabbed my first aid kit and ran to the garden, when I saw the man covered in blood. 

"I made sure that the scene was secure and no one else was in the garden and then began to bandage his wounds whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive."

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "We were called at 11.15am today (Monday) to a report of an assault in Park Avenue, Saltney. 

"One man has been taken to the Countess of Chester with non-life threatening injuries and another man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding."
