THE Countess of Chester Hospital Trust has recorded a further two deaths of patients who tested positive for coronavirus, according to the latest NHS England data.

Figures released this afternoon (May 2) show that, as of 5pm yesterday, the trust – which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites – has now registered a total of 130 deaths.

That represents a daily reporting increase of two deaths – one less than yesterday.

The Cheshire hospital death toll now stands at 417 – a daily reporting increase of 11 compared to 17 the previous day – with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recording the second highest amount with 120.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 88, while the East Cheshire NHS Trust figure stands at 79.

There are now 2,589 confirmed cases of coronavirus across Cheshire, with Cheshire West and Chester recording 800, Cheshire East (869), Warrington (603), and Halton (317).

Across England, a further 370 people – up from 352 yesterday – who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 20,853.

Patients were aged between 38 and 100 years-old. A total of 25 of the 370 patients were aged between 43 and 91 years-old, and had no known underlying health condition.

Today, 39 deaths are reported with no positive COVID-19 test result.
