THREE members of the Ellesmere Port Air Cadets Squadron have been named as recipients of Lord-Lieutenant awards.

Among the names of those to receive awards are members of six squadrons from across Merseyside Wing including several members of 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron as well as 400 (Birkenhead), 1026 (Ormskirk), 146 (Northwich), 611 (Woodvale) and 440 (Isle of Man) Squadrons for their service to the Air Cadets as well as the people of their home towns and counties.

The Cheshire recipients are:

Squadron Leader Paul Thompson, Officer Commanding of 146 (Northwich) Squadron.

Sergeant Lynette McDermott of 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Theodore Phillip Holloway of 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron.

Cadet Sergeant Caitlin Hill of 1074 (Ellesmere Port) Squadron.

The Merseyside recipients are:

Squadron Leader Sarah Vose of Merseyside Wing Staff.

Warrant Officer Robert Evans-Jones of 400 (Birkenhead) Squadron.

Warrant Officer Phillipa Routledge of 1026 (Ormskirk) Squadron.

Alongside these individuals who are to receive their awards, Officer Commanding Merseyside Wing Air Cadets, Wing Commander Joe O’Riley RAFAC, stated just how thankful he was for every single adult volunteer within the Wing, giving their own personal time to help our young people, to be better in society and give them opportunities they would not normally be afforded.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets is open to all young people ages 12 (Year 8) to 18 and offers the opportunity for cadets to experience many areas including flying, gliding, target shooting, leadership, the Duke of Edinburgh Award and visits and camps to active RAF Stations across Europe.
