PLANS to build more than 100 new homes across two brownfield sites in Ellesmere Port have been rubber stamped.

Cheshire West and Chester Council's planning chiefs approved the applications on Friday (April 17) after councillors voted in favour of the proposals earlier this year.

Both plans had been put forward by Galliford Try and will see 55 new homes built on the former site of The Acorns Primary and Nursery School in Regent Street, and 52 properties on land which used to house the Rivacre Business Centre on Mill Lane.

The old school site, which was demolished in 2013 and has been a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, includes 16 affordable homes, parking for 100 cars, a public open space, and a play area.

There will be a total of 34 three-bedroom homes and five two-bedroom properties on the development.

The affordable housing element will see ten one-bedroom flats and six two-bedroom homes built.

The development at the site on Mill Lane, which has been vacant since 2015, will also include 16 affordable homes along with 104 car parking spaces.

Chester and District Standard:

There will be 30 three-bedroom homes and six two-bed properties, while the affordable housing element will provide a total of 16 two-bedroom homes.

In the decision notice for two applications, Director of Place Strategy Lisa Harris said: "The local planning authority has sought to work with the applicant in a positive and proactive way to secure a development that will improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of the area."
