A FLINTSHIRE man has put up a sign on the outside of his house paying homage to the NHS amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Wayne Willis, from Saltney, has put up the NHS lettering outside his Victoria Road property to show his support for healthcare staff amid the crisis.

And 58-year-old Wayne, a semi-retired joiner by trade, says he hopes it puts a smile on the face of the NHS staff who see it.

He said: “Victoria Road is a common bus route for many people, and hopefully this will raise the spirits of NHS staff who pass by on the bus, their car or those walking past.”

Wayne has created it by painting big pieces of wood which he has attached Christmas lights to.

He said: “It took me about two days over the Bank Holiday weekend to make the lettering and sort all the lighting out.

“My thanks to my wife Sue - herself a key worker for Cheshire West and Chester Council - for helping me with the painting of it.”

He switches the lights on at dusk every evening as a show of gratitude to the NHS workers who continue to put themselves in harm’s way to care for others day after day.
