A HOLIDAY park entertainer kept his promise of getting 'gunged' in support of NHS staff working tirelessly during the coronavirus pandemic – and in the process has raised more than £400 for charity.

Reece Lloyd, from Chester, was aiming to raise £200 – along with a few laughs – by getting covered in slime in aid of NHS Charities Together.

The 19-year-old, who works as an entertainer at Broadland Sands Holiday Park in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, but is currently back home due to the crisis, has surpassed his target and so far raised £442.

He has now set another fundraising target of £700, at which point he is vowing to getting dunked into a 6,400 litre pool of ice cold water.

Reece said: "Within a few days the £200 target was reached, which I am unbelievably pleased about and so happy that everyone came together to support the NHS by donating what they can.

"Like I said, once the target was reached, I would be gunged! And that is exactly what happened. I did also say that I had a surprise – and that was that I would personally double the target that has been raised.

"I donated one week's worth of wages which more than doubled the amount of money in the fundraiser! The fundraiser total stands at £442. And if we include all the Gift Aid donations, the grand total of money raised for NHS Charities Together is £975.

"I would like to thank every person that has donated. Every penny counts and it is all going to a great cause.

"Continuing from the 'Slime Time' fundraiser, if a target of £700 is reached I will be dunked into a 6,473 litre pool of ice cold water."

as soon as his fundraising target is hit.

He said: "I have temporarily been sent home but can't wait to go back and start entertaining again. That is where the idea come from.

"I thought to myself I could do a fundraiser in true entertainer fashion and get gunged if a target is reached, and all money will go directly to NHS Charities Together.

"It's for a good cause and it's a bit of fun during this tough time which will hopefully keep spirits high and give people something to laugh at when the target is hopefully reached.

"The idea for the gunging and the slime is purely for the reason of it's just classic entertainment! Who doesn't love seeing someone get covered in slime after losing a game show or a challenge?

"Apart from this time, I’ll be getting slime poured all over me when the £200 target is met. Also, if this target is met, I have an extra surprise that will not want to be missed!"

Once Reece has reached his fundraising total he will film the gunging and post it online.
