SOUP left cooking on a hob for too long led to firefighters being called out to a property in Neston.

One crew from Powey Lane responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding at the house in Woodlands Road, Parkgate, Neston, at about 2.15pm today (Wednesday, April 8).

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the crew discovered that fumes from soup being left cooking on a hob for too long had activated the alarm.

"Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots and make sure that the property was safe. They also ensured that the property was ventilated.

"Firefighters were in attendance for around 15 minutes."
