A CALF has been safely rescued after getting stuck in a stretch of canal near Chester.
Two fire engines, one from Powey Lane and one from Lymm, were called at about 4.40pm, to the stricken animal trapped in water on Croughton Road.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters initially liaised with the farmer to devise a plan on how to safely rescue the calf.
"However the calf was quickly and safely removed from the water by the farmer. Fire crews were at the scene in-case the farmer did require additional support."
