THERE has been a record rise in the number of deaths from coronavirus in UK hospitals for the second day running, according to the latest Government data.
Figures published by the Department of Health show that, as of 5pm on April 1, a total of 2,921 people who tested positive for the virus have sadly died.
That is an increase of 569 deaths in the space of 24 hours, after the death toll rose by 563 yesterday.
As of 9am today (April 2), a total of 163,194 people have been tested, of which 33,718 were positive.
