A CHESTER resident has been praised for putting a smile on children's faces during the coronavirus lockdown – by dressing up as a different character for his daily dog walk.

People living in the Lache area have been howling with laughter from their house windows and doorsteps as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Mr Blobby have all been spotted walking the streets this week.

Resident Anya Marie contacted The Standard to hail "unsung hero" Stuart Vincent for using his one walk of the day to bring the community some joy during the crisis.

She also wanted to praise Saltney florist Linsay Brown for her "kindness and compassion" in delivering flowers to key workers as well as laying some on the mini roundabout at Lache shops to brighten up the area.

Chester and District Standard:

Anya said: "This email is to acknowledge two people who have made me smile during this terrible time.

"One is a man called Stuart Vincent, he a well-known character in the area. He has been walking his dog with his gorgeous wife Lisa dressed in different characters to help the children.

"He waves at them all and has brought smiles to a lot of people. The kids up and down the streets are laughing and enjoying it.

"The other is the lovely Linsay Brown who owns Acacia in Saltney. She took it upon herself to deliver flowers to key workers, to hospitals, care homes, the post office – even putting flowers around the mini roundabout on the Lache shops.

"Her kindness and compassion I feel needs to be recognised."
