A LONG-established art gallery in Chester has joined forces with a renowned artist to bring a fundraising online workshop at the weekend.

Residents will be able to take part in the event from their kitchen table with their own materials and help raise money for the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Charitable Funds.

Hosted live online by the Watergate Gallery and acclaimed artist Elizabeth Macdonald, on Sunday, April 5, at 10am, the event will focus on ‘art for wellbeing’ during 'this difficult and isolating time'.

Submitted designs will be featured on The Watergate Street Gallery website and the winning design will take pride of place in the Countess of Chester Hospital.

There will also be prizes for the best images, to be chosen by the gallery and artist.

A spokesman for the event said: "The live fun-filled, inspiring and totally inclusive online workshop can be completed at your own kitchen table, using art materials you already have in your home.

"An unmissable opportunity for children of all ages to make creative Easter Cards for their grandparents and loved ones, hosted by one of the UK’s most talented artists - Elizabeth Macdonald and her 10-year-old daughter."

Parents will be able to upload their children’s designs to be featured on the gallery's website as well as a chance to win an art class for all the family at the gallery, a family fun day at Chester Races in 2021 and a whole host of other exciting prizes.

Families can register to join the workshop from Thursday, April 2, at midday at: www.watergatestreetgallery.co.uk.

Parents ‘The art masters’ will be given a simple information sheet with details of what ‘materials’ should be collected from around the home.

Participants are asked to make a voluntary donation directly to the Countess of Chester Trust via their JustGiving page.

Alex Sharp, Watergate Street Gallery Owner said: “Grandparents are the beloved centerpieces of most families, and are sorely missed by their grandchildren during this challenging time.

"The Watergate Street Gallery wanted to deliver a 100 per cent safe, family-friendly, interactive Easter card making event with a twist, hosted online by one of the UK’s leading artists.

"Liz Macdonald is an exceptional artist and mum, and most importantly reflects all that our gallery stands for - fighting spirit, community focus, charitable giving, artistic brilliance and heaps of fun!"

The online workshop is supported by The Watergate Street Gallery, CH1ChesterBID, Experience Chester, Visit Chester, Chester Racecourse and The Countess of Chester Trust.

Any donations made to the JustGiving page will be placed directly into the Countess of Chester's Hospital Fund. This fund is available to all ward managers to fund equipment to benefit their patients and staff.
