TWO more people have died in Cheshire after testing positive for coronavirus, while the UK hospital death toll has risen by a record 563 in the space of a day.

An 84-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man, both with underlying health problems, have died at Warrington Hospital, it has been confirmed.

Meanwhile, latest figures published by the Department of Health show that, as of 5pm on March 31, a total of 2,352 people who tested positive for the virus have sadly died.

As of 9am today (April 1) a total of 152,979 people have been tested of which 29,474 were positive.

In Cheshire, it has so far been confirmed that four people have died from the Covid-19 coronavirus in Leighton Hospital, Crewe – the latest one a patient in his 60s who had underlying health conditions.

One man in his 80s with underlying health conditions died from coronavirus at the Countess of Chester Hospital last month.

In Warrington, there have been four deaths with the hospital Trust confirming today that an 84-year-old woman passed away on Saturday after testing positive for coronavirus.

She had an underlying health condition.

An 80-year-old man who also tested positive for Covid-19 died on Monday.

He also had an underlying health condition.
