THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Cheshire West has risen above 50.

Latest figures from Public Health England show as of 9am on Tuesday, March 31, there have been a total of 54 cases in the borough.

Across the rest of Cheshire, there are 74 confirmed cases in Cheshire East, 32 in Warrington and 25 in Halton.

That means there have been a total of 185 confirmed cases in Cheshire – with that figure rising by 38 in the past 24 hours.

Latest figures published by the Department of Health show that, as of 5pm on March 30, a total of 1,789 people who tested positive for the virus in the UK have sadly died.

That is a rise of 381 deaths in the space of 24 hours.

As of 9am on Tuesday, March 31, a total of 143,186 people have been tested, of which 25,150 were positive.

Four people have died from the Covid-19 coronavirus in Leighton Hospital, Crewe, the latest one a patient in his 60s who had underlying health conditions.

One man in his 80s with underlying health conditions died from coronavirus at the Countess of Chester Hospital earlier this month.
