A HEALTH and fitness centre in Ellesmere Port has handed over £900 worth of food to the town's food bank after temporarily shutting.
The team at David Lloyd Clubs in Cheshire Oaks were keen for the food items not to go to waste, contacted the West Cheshire Foodbank, which is working tirelessly during the coronavirus outbreak to help support the most vulnerable residents.
Following the announcement of the temporary closure to help reduce the spread of the pandemic, David Lloyd Clubs across the UK donated all excess perishables to local NHS teams and other support groups.
Stephen Brown, operations director for David Lloyd, said: “Since closing the doors to our clubs, our teams have worked hard ensuring any perishables left in our kitchens reach those who need them the most. We’ve all seen the images of bare supermarket shelves and we’re hoping our donations make things a little easier.”
Members of the Cheshire Oaks facility were also contacted to say monthly membership fees will be frozen during the outbreak.
