PUPILS at a Flintshire primary school have designed a 'thank you' banner for NHS staff, which has been put on display outside the school.

Children of those classed as key workers during the coronavirus outbreak attending Ysgol Sychdyn have designed the banner as a show of gratitude for NHS workers amid the crisis.

Mrs Cheryl Barry, deputy headteacher, said: "As a school community we wanted to send a message of thanks to all our front line NHS staff thanking them for their service.

"The key/vital worker children and Sychdyn staff worked in the sunshine yesterday to paint the banner and it is now proudly displayed outside our school.

The Leader:

And Mrs Barry is no stranger to key workers.

She said: "I am supporting key worker children in my school, while my eldest daughter is serving in the RAF as a police officer at Brize Norton, and my other daughter is preparing to be deployed to Countess of Chester hospital as she is a final year nursing student at Glyndwr University.

"As a family we are hopefully making a worthwhile and valuable contribution in the efforts to keep people safe during this worrying time."
