THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Cheshire has risen above 50, according to the latest Public Health England data.

The figures from Tuesday, March 24 show there have been a total of 59 confirmed cases - 25 cases in Cheshire East, 18 in Cheshire West and Chester, and eight each in Halton and Warrington.

Four people have died from the Covid-19 coronavirus in Leighton Hospital, Crewe, the latest one a patient in his 60s who had underlying health conditions.

One man in his 80s with underlying health conditions died from coronavirus at the Countess of Chester Hospital earlier this month.

Across the UK, 422 patients who tested positive for coronavirus have sadly died.

A total of 90,436 people have been tested, with 8,077 positive results, up from 6,650 at the same point on Monday.
