A POLICE dog has been put to sleep after a short illness, the Cheshire and North Wales Police dog unit has confirmed.
Black labrador PD Seren was four-and-a-half years old and worked as a drugs and firearms detection dog.
Cheshire and North Wales Police Dogs' social media accounts posted yesterday evening: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce that after a short illness PD Seren was put to sleep this afternoon (March 19).
"She was held by her handler, and will be missed greatly. Seren was four and a half years old and worked as a drugs, and firearms detection dog. RIP S #Seren."
Cheshire Police added: "Very sad news. Our thoughts are with Seren's handler and the rest of the Cheshire & North Wales dog unit."
